Full form of WIFI – Wireless Fidelity

Wi-Fi is the another name for wireless networking technology that uses radio waves to provide high-speed network and Internet connections.

WIFI also written as WI-FI. It is a local area wireless technology. WI-FI is a family of wireless network protocols, which based on IEEE 802.11 family of standards. WI-FI is a trademark of the non-profit WI-FI Alliances.

 To connect to a Wi-Fi network, a user generally needs the network name (the SSID) and a password. The password is used to encrypt Wi-Fi packets.

Wireless Fidelity (WiFi Full form) can be used to create a hotspot within the range of 20 meters (66 feet). It is less secure than wired connection because the attacker or intruder does not need the physical connection to use the Wi-Fi.

History

The technical birthplace of Wireless Fidelity (WiFi full name) is in The Netherlands. NCR Corporation with AT&T Corporation invented In 1991, the precursor to 802.11 standard.

The first version of the 802.11 protocol standard was released in 1997, and provided up to 2 Mbit/s link speed.

Terminology

The name Wi-Fi has no more other meaning, and was never officially a shortened form of “Wireless Fidelity”.

Non-Wi-Fi technologies for fixed points, like Motorola Canopy, are usually known as fixed wireless. Furthermore,  Alternative wireless technologies which include mobile phone standards, such as 2G, 3G, 4G, and LTE.
