It protects the interests of investors in securities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The functioning of the mutual funds, stock market etc. are regulated by SEBI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Headquarters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The headquarter of SEBI is in Mumbai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has four regional offices in Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SEBI has also opened local offices at Bangalore and Jaipur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>History<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SEBI was established on 12th April 1992 by the government of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The statuary powers was given in 1992 with SEBI Act 1992 which passed by the Government of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Objectives of SEBI<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main objective of SEBI is to protect the interests of all investors in securities and the parties involved in trading. The other objectives of SEBI are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To protect the rights of the investors<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To examine the tasks of the stock exchange<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To describe the code of conduct for underwriters, brokers and other intermediaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To control the fraudulent practices by balancing between self regulation and statutory regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Powers of SEBI<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To function properly, SEBI has some necessary powers and which are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Checks the price manipulation.<\/li><li>For performing its function, it imposes charges and other fees on the intermediaries.<\/li><li>In one or more stock exchanges, it ensure certain companies for listing their shares.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Members of SEBI<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SEBI is managed by as per below given members:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Union Government of India nominates the Chairman of Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two members of the Ministry of Central Government deals with Finance and Companies Act administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The one member is from the Reserve Bank of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The central Government appoints the other five members and among them three of them must be whole time members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Structure of SEBI<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The organizational structure of SEBI composed of more than 25 departments and which are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Corporation Finance Department<\/li><li>Information Technology Department<\/li><li>Foreign Portfolio Investors and Custodians<\/li><li>Investment Management Department<\/li><li>Treasury and Accounts Divisions<\/li><li>Legal Affair Department<\/li><li>Department of Economic and Policy Analysis<\/li><li>National Institute of Securities Market<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SEBI &#8211; Securities and Exchange Board of India.
