Full form of SSLC

SSLC full form is Secondary School Leaving Certificate.

SSLC is a type of certificate given to the students after completing their study at the secondary level of their Schooling. SSLC means one type of eligibility examination taken for getting admission in higher secondary school which is necessarily popular in India.

In simple words, SSLC means 10th standard certificate.

Students can get SSLC after completing their 10th grade exams. The States in India,  in which SSLC general eligibility examination is taken, are Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.

Schooling system in India is classified in three different categories:

Primary Schooling: The first five years of schooling is known as primary schooling.

Secondary Schooling: Grade 6th to 10th is known as secondary schooling.

Higher Secondary or Pre-University: Grade 11th and 12th are known as Higher secondary schooling or Pre-University. After that students can apply for degree courses in colleges or universities.

Why different names of SSLC

  • In south Indian states such as Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra, they called SSLC Certificate for standard 10th.
  • In north and eastern states, they called HSC Certificate – Higher Secondary/Matriculation Certificate.
  • In Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states, they called SSC (Secondary School Certificate) certificate.

Significance of SSLC meaning

In India, The SSLC certificate is used as the Proof for DOB (date of birth). and where Registration for births and deaths was not essential in India. The person who born before 1989, SSLC is still be considered as a proof.

Uses of having SSLC Certificate

In the current scenario, having SSLC after 10th, is not just enough. You cannot get any type of job in any sectors. The uses of having SSLC are listed below:

  • For studying higher education
  • For getting passport
  • For getting Driving license

Future after getting SSLC

The students can get admission for Pre-University courses (mainly known as +2 education in India) after getting certification for SSLC.

After completing grade 12th, she / he can apply for graduation course in any university as per their choice.

After receiving SSLC, Students can also apply for technical courses like three year diploma engineering courses in polytechnics as per their interests to make professional careers.
